For Stabaek Sporting Director Torgeir Bjarmann, market dynamics in Norway’s Eliteserien dictate he must sell players every year. When one of those potential exits is highly-coveted young midfielder Emil Bohinen, but the European transfer window had closed in mainly all countries, the club had to think a little bit differently.
So Bjarmann turned to TransferRoom’s Plus Pitch mechanism, notifying 20 clubs of Bohinen’s availability. When CSKA Moscow registered their interest in less than 15 minutes, direct negotiations between the two clubs’ Sporting Directors ensued and a €1.5m deal was agreed.
Bohinen got his move and Stabaek received one of the club's 10 biggest transfers of all time.
